Singapore joins APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules and Privacy Recognition for Processors Systems

The steps that the Singapore PDPC are taking towards establishing a meaningful certification system took a big step when Singapore joined these regional cross border rules, which include countries like the USA, Japan and Canada. This means that “certified companies in Singapore will be able to exchange personal data with other certified companies in participating APEC economies seamlessly” and for Singaporeans who hate all things local, our standards are in line with large countries. Hopefully this encourages businesses here to not treat the certification system as something “provincial” and will make our data products more exportable.
